Vertical video and clips

What is a clip template?

A clip template is a ready-made look for vertical video, applied at once: the caption style, the title and on-screen text, the background and the layout, like split screen or video in a framed card. With one, every clip from a channel comes out with the same look, without building the design one by one.

Also called: video template, Reels template

What comes in a template

A template bundles pieces you would otherwise adjust separately on every clip.

Why it matters

Why use a template

Consistency makes your audience recognize your content in the feed before they read the name. And it saves time: with the look settled, each new clip is just a new title and a download.

The trick is not to get rigid. The template is the starting point; the title text and the highlighted word change from clip to clip.

In practice

Building templates that last

  1. 01

    Design for the longest title

Test the template with the longest title you would realistically write. If it overflows the box or crowds the captions, fix the layout now, not on every clip.

  2. 02

Check it against the safe zone

Before you settle on a template, overlay the safe zone of each platform you post to. Titles and logos in a template repeat on every clip, and so does any mistake.

  3. 03

    Keep the brand elements few

One or two brand colors and one font family are usually enough. A busy template competes with the speaker, and viewers should notice the person first.

  4. 04

    One template per format

A podcast, a tutorial and a testimonial need different layouts. Keep a small set, one template per format, instead of forcing every clip into the same design.

Frequently asked questions

What is the difference between a template and a caption style?

A style only covers the captions. A template is the whole look of the clip: caption style, title, text, backgrounds and layout.

Can I create my own template?

Yes. After adjusting a clip the way you like it, save the look as a template and apply it to the next clips.

Do the templates work in CapCut or Premiere?

We do not export templates to other editors. The template comes applied to the clip we render, ready to post.

Captions, clips and paper edits. All in one place.

Upload a video or paste a YouTube link. We transcribe every word with its timing, and you take the result to social media or to your editor.
