Captions.

There are two ways to get captions in FilmScribe: an SRT file, for any editor or platform, and captions burned into the clip itself, with animated styles. These articles show both, how to change font, color and position, use your brand font and add captions in another language.

  1. How to download SRT captions

On the Transcription page, click Download and then Download as complete .SRT. In the window, choose the split mode, a TV, Netflix or YouTube preset, the maximum lines per caption and the frames per second. The preview shows the result; then just download it and take it to your editor or platform.

  2. How to choose and save a caption style

In the Download clip window, open Captions in the right menu. On the Styles tab, filter by category or search and click a style: the caption shows up in the preview. After adjusting the font and effects, Save caption style keeps everything under a name, and Use as default applies that style automatically to your next clips.

  3. How to customize the clip captions

With a style chosen in Captions, use the Font tab to change the font, size, weight, colors, outline, shadow and line breaks, and the Effects tab for position, caption backdrop, keywords and word styles. Drag the caption in the preview to move it.

  4. How to use your brand's font in captions

Inside a video, open Library in the menu, go to Fonts and click Add font to upload a TTF or OTF file. The font stays saved in your account and shows up in every caption font picker, in the Your Fonts group. Only use fonts you're licensed to use.

  5. How to add translated captions to a clip

With a style chosen in Captions, open the Translation tab. In Caption language, choose Translated, for captions only in the other language, or Bilingual, for both languages together, and choose the language. If the content hasn't been translated into it yet, click Translate now.
