Devotional videos, captioned. Plus text and audio for everyone else.
A devotional video is a short reflection on a Bible passage, recorded to walk with your church through the week. With FilmScribe, you upload today's devotional, on video or just audio, and we send back the written devotional for email and your blog, captions, an MP3 and, from video, captioned vertical clips for Reels, Shorts and Stories.
Updated
The devotional is short. The work around it isn't.
Recording takes ten minutes. Everything else takes the morning.
Captioning by hand, finding the clip for Stories, exporting a vertical version, pasting the text into an email. Done daily, that outweighs the recording itself. In FilmScribe one upload gives you all of it: text, captions, clips and audio.
Many viewers have the sound off.
On the train, at work, in the school pickup line: your devotional plays muted in the feed. Without captions the message doesn't land. Clips come with burned-in captions in 235 styles, and you can pick a calm look instead of a flashy one.
Not everyone wants to watch.
Some people read their devotional over morning coffee; others listen on the commute. The transcript becomes today's written devotional as TXT or PDF, and the audio comes out as an MP3 for your podcast or email list.
A month of devotionals disappears in the feed.
Thirty recordings later, nobody can find the one on anxiety that people keep asking about. With one project per series and search in the transcripts, you find the word, the verse and the day in seconds.
How FilmScribe prepares today's devotional
- 01
Record and upload
Phone video in MP4 or MOV, or just the audio in M4A or MP3. Pick Devotional as the content type and a clip length: up to 30 s for Stories or 30 to 59 s for Reels.
- 02
We prepare everything
A punctuated word-by-word transcript, chapters, the emotion of each line and captioned vertical clips, each with a 0 to 100 score and a moment type.
- 03
Post where your people are
Clips go to Reels, Shorts, TikTok and Stories. The text goes to email and your blog. The MP3 goes to your podcast feed.
One devotional morning, from phone to three formats
She records at 6 a.m. on the back porch, phone propped on a book: eight minutes on Psalm 23, with the reading, a reflection on the valleys we walk through and a short prayer at the end. Before breakfast the MP4 is in FilmScribe, with Devotional as the content type and clips up to 30 seconds.
When processing finishes, the devotional is in text, punctuated, with a timestamp on every word. She reads it once, fixes a name and pastes it into her email newsletter. The text reads the way she spoke, so a quick edit is all it takes to feel like writing. Any fix she makes inside FilmScribe carries into the clip captions too.
In the clips tab, "He never promised there'd be no valley" scores 91 and is tagged emotion. She turns on light pause removal to keep the pace gentle, strips her "you know"s with her own filler word list and picks a classic caption style. The clip goes to Stories and Reels. On days she wants the whole devotional in vertical, she makes a manual clip from start to finish with captions: on Pro a clip can run up to 15 minutes.
The MP3 goes into the women's ministry podcast. Each week sits in the series project, and when someone asks for "that one about rest", search finds the word across every transcript. A 10-minute devotional every day adds up to about 5 hours a month, half of what Pro includes for R$ 59.

Frequently asked questions
How do I make a daily devotional video?
Record vertical or horizontal and upload the file: we return 9:16 clips with captions and the frame on whoever is speaking. Choose up to 30 s for Stories or 30 to 59 s for Reels, pick a caption style and download without a watermark on paid plans.
Can I caption a devotional video automatically?
Yes. Captions come from the transcript, synced word by word. On clips they're burned in, with 235 styles and 54 fonts. For YouTube, download the SRT. Fix a word in the transcript and the captions follow.
Can I turn it into a written devotional?
The transcript is punctuated and downloads as TXT or PDF. It reflects exactly what you said, so give it a quick read before publishing. You can also edit the text right inside FilmScribe, and any fix carries into the clip captions.
Can I record audio only?
Yes. From audio you get the transcript, chapters, emotions, TXT or PDF, SRT captions and MP3 snippets. Video clips, burned-in captions and templates need a video recording. For a podcast-style or email-first devotional, audio is often all you need.
Can I remove pauses and filler words?
Yes. Pause removal has three levels: light, balanced and aggressive. For devotionals, light keeps the pace calm. Filler words come out based on a list you set yourself, so you decide which habits go and which stay.
How much does a daily devotional cost?
A 10-minute devotional every day adds up to about 5 hours a month. That fits Pro, with 10 hours for R$ 59 a month or R$ 49 on the annual plan, with room left for Sunday's sermon.
Can I share my devotional in another language?
On Studio and Agency, clip captions can be translated and burned in, in 9 languages including Spanish, Portuguese, French and German. It's a simple way to reach a Spanish-speaking congregation down the street or the missionaries your church supports overseas. The transcript stays in the language you recorded.
