Frequently asked questions
What is a caption style?
A caption style is the full look of your captions: the font, size, colors, outline, how many words show at once and how each word animates in. On FilmScribe you pick one of 235 styles for a clip, and every setting in it stays editable.
What is the difference between a caption style and a template?
A caption style only covers the captions. A template is the whole look of the clip: a caption style plus title and text overlays, backgrounds and a layout such as split screen or a framed video card. There are 48 templates ready to use, and you can save the look of any clip as a template.
Can I change a style after I pick it?
Yes. In the clip editor you can change the text color, highlight color, outline, size, position, line breaks and words per line. You can also click individual words to give them their own color, box or effect, and the preview updates right away.
Can I use these caption styles in CapCut or Premiere Pro?
We don't export CapCut templates or Premiere Pro MOGRTs. You get the caption burned into the clip, ready to post, or an SRT file with the text and timing of every line to import into your editor. The SRT carries no animation.
Do the captions have a watermark?
Not on paid plans (Pro, Studio and Agency). During the free trial, which covers 3 days or 1 hour of video, clips end with a short FilmScribe outro.
Which caption style works best for Reels?
Short lines and strong contrast matter more than any single look. For tips and tutorials, White Card reads like native app captions. For fast clips, Two Words keeps attention. For calm or emotional moments, Clean stays out of the way. Our ranked list for Reels explains each pick.
Pick a style. We handle the timing. Every word synced to the speech.
Upload a video or paste a YouTube link. We transcribe every word with its timing, you choose the look, and the clip comes out captioned.
