FilmScribe + Premiere Pro edit from the transcript, already cut in your sequence.
You upload the raw footage, read the transcript with speakers and pick the lines. We hand back an .xml that Premiere Pro opens as a sequence that's already cut, with every piece on the original file's timecode. Captions come as SRT, and vertical clips come ready as MP4.
What you bring into the project
The timeline is the core: it carries the edit, not the media, so it downloads instantly even for a three-hour ceremony. Captions and clips round out the project.
| File | What it carries | Plan |
|---|---|---|
| Cut timeline (.xml) | The lines you picked, on the original file's timecode | Studio, Agency and trial |
| Captions (.srt) | Text and timing of each caption, with presets and frame rate | Every plan |
| Vertical clips (.mp4) | A 9:16 clip with burned-in captions, to finish or publish | Every plan |
| Audio (.mp3) | The full audio or just the passages you picked | Every plan |
Cut on top of your synced sequence
If you already synced cameras and external recorder audio, or graded the footage, export the sequence from Premiere as .xml and send it to us with the transcribed audio. The cut timeline comes back on top of your own project, with your tracks.
Whatever doesn't fit in the file, like titles, adjustment layers and transitions, is listed in a notice, so you know exactly what to check.
- Editor: Premiere Pro (.xml)
- Source: favorites, 14 passages
- Media: my synced sequence
- Transcribed audio starts at 00:00:08
- Handles: 0.3 s before and after each line
- Gap between passages: 1 s

Frequently asked questions
How do I import the FilmScribe timeline into Premiere Pro?
Download the .xml from FilmScribe, open your project in Premiere Pro and use File > Import. The sequence shows up in the Project panel, with every piece on the original file's timecode. When Premiere asks, relink to the file that's already on your computer.
Does the .xml include the video?
No. The file only carries the edit: which passages go in, in what order and where they sit in the original. That's why it's small and downloads instantly. Your media stays on your computer and Premiere links the two.
Does it work with multicam and external recorder audio?
Yes, when you send your synced timeline. Export from Premiere the sequence whose audio was transcribed, tell us where that audio starts and we cut on top of it. Multicam comes in with the active angle, transitions become straight cuts and titles are left out, always with a notice of what changed.
Premiere already transcribes. Why use FilmScribe?
Premiere's transcription works inside the project and is good for text-based editing. FilmScribe comes earlier: you read, search and pick lines without opening the project, with chapters, emotions and, on Studio and Agency, scored hooks and a script at the length you ask for. The same footage also becomes captioned vertical clips and translations.
Will the SRT import into Premiere without errors?
Yes. The SRT comes out in UTF-8, at your project's frame rate, with TV, Netflix and YouTube presets. If you already have an SRT that throws an error, the free SRT to Premiere tool fixes the file before you import it.
Which plan includes the Premiere export?
The .xml timeline is on Studio and Agency, and on their trial. SRT captions, vertical clips and MP3 are on every plan.
