FilmScribe + Final Cut Pro FCPXML captions and a timeline that's already cut.
You upload your video and we transcribe every word with its timing. For Final Cut Pro, captions come out as FCPXML, either as editable titles or as closed captions, on every plan. On Studio and Agency, the lines you pick in the transcript become an .fcpxml timeline that's already cut and points to the original file.

- Format: titles
- Event: Ana and Leo wedding
- Project: Captioned ceremony
- Cut timeline: favorites, 14 passages

Two files Final Cut opens directly
FCPXML captions come in as titles, which you style and burn into the video, or as closed captions, which travel with the exported file. You name the event and the project before downloading.
The .fcpxml timeline carries the edit of the lines you picked. Your media stays on your drive and Final Cut links the two.
| File | What it carries | Plan |
|---|---|---|
| Captions (.fcpxml) | Each caption as a title or a closed caption, timed to speech | Every plan |
| Captions (.srt) | Text and timing, with presets and frame rate | Every plan |
| Cut timeline (.fcpxml) | The lines you picked, on the original file's timecode | Studio, Agency and trial |
| Vertical clips (.mp4) | A 9:16 clip with animated captions burned in | Every plan |
Cut on top of your synced project
If you already synced cameras and external audio in a multicam clip, export the timeline as .fcpxml or as an .fcpxmld bundle and send it to us with the transcribed audio. The cut timeline comes back on top of your project, with your tracks.
Anything the file doesn't carry, like titles and transitions, is listed in a notice. Multicam comes in with the active angle.

Frequently asked questions
How do I add captions in Final Cut Pro with FilmScribe?
Once the transcript is ready, download the Final Cut captions as .fcpxml and choose the format: titles or captions. In Final Cut, use File > Import > XML. Titles arrive ready for your font and color; captions come in as closed captions.
Titles or captions: which should I pick?
Pick titles when the captions will be burned into the video, with your font, size and position. Pick captions when you want closed captions viewers can turn on and off, or when you'll export the caption file later. Both come out exactly timed to speech.
Final Cut Pro already has automatic captions. Why use FilmScribe?
Recent versions of Final Cut Pro transcribe speech and create captions inside the app, which works well for a short video already on the timeline. FilmScribe helps when the footage is long or when you need more than captions: speakers, chapters, captioned vertical clips and, on Studio and Agency, a timeline already cut to the lines you picked, plus translation.
How do I import the cut timeline into Final Cut Pro?
Download the .fcpxml and use File > Import > XML. The timeline arrives with the passages in the order you set, with the handles and gaps you chose. If you sent your synced timeline, the cut comes on top of it; if not, relink to the original file.
Do the animated clip captions carry into Final Cut?
The animation is burned into the MP4 of the clip we render. The .fcpxml carries the text and timing of each caption, without the animation. If you want the animated captions ready, download the captioned clip and use that video in your project.
Which plan includes each Final Cut file?
FCPXML captions and SRT are on every plan. The cut .fcpxml timeline is on Studio and Agency, and on their trial, which lasts 3 days or 1 hour of footage.
